Terms of Service

Last updated October 15, 2026

These terms govern your use of ShipSniffer ("ShipSniffer", "we", "us"), a launch-readiness and security scanning service operated by Jake Cyr. By using ShipSniffer you agree to these terms.

1. Only scan what you're allowed to scan

You may only submit websites, repositories, and code that you own or are explicitly authorized to test. You are responsible for having that permission. Don't use ShipSniffer to probe, attack, or collect data from systems you don't control. We may block scans, IP addresses, or accounts we believe are being used for unauthorized testing or abuse.

2. What the service does

ShipSniffer runs automated, non-destructive checks (HTTP GET requests to public pages and assets, and static analysis of code you upload or link) and produces a report with findings and suggested fixes. Live scans only read publicly reachable resources; we don't try to log in, exploit, or modify anything.

3. No guarantee

Automated scanning can't find every problem. Reports may contain false positives and will miss issues (false negatives). A good score doesn't mean your app is secure, and ShipSniffer is not a substitute for a professional security review or penetration test. Suggested fix prompts are starting points: review every change before you ship it.

4. Payments

Some features (such as unlocking a full report or a source-code scan) are paid, one-time purchases. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details. Prices are shown before checkout. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

5. Acceptable use

6. Your content

You keep all rights to your code and data. You give us permission to process it only to run the scan and show you the results, as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Report links

Reports are available through an unguessable link for about 30 days. Anyone with the link can view the report, so keep it private.

8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, ShipSniffer and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any security incident, data loss, or downtime related to your app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. The date above shows the latest version. Continuing to use ShipSniffer after a change means you accept the updated terms.
